Having grown up within The Training Center, a family-operated school dedicated to empowering professionals since 1982, Nicole was immersed in the world of adult education. Over the years, she’s evolved into a skilled instructor who has a unique ability to simplify complex topics, making them approachable and engaging. Certified Pool Operator Certification FAQ’s

  • The total for the course is $350.00 and this includes all components of the course which includes your CPO Handbook (textbook), practice exams and three exam attempts per course purchase.

    **Tuition will increase to $390 for 2026 as required by the PHTA.

  • Yes, you can complete the recertification course in one day.

  • The length of the recertification course in its entirety is up to the student— given that the exam is completed within 6 months of the live class date.

    The Zoom webinar is 5 hours long and each student has up to 3 hours to complete the final CPO exam. You can choose to take the exam directly after the live Zoom class should you choose to or schedule it for a different day.

  • 3 exam attempts- We have previously offered unlimited exam attempts for our program, but as of September 15, 2025 the CPO Advisory Council released the following statement:

    “Exam Retakes The CPO Advisory Council has approved a revised policy regarding examination retakes. Students will be permitted one initial exam and up to two retakes. All retakes must be completed within 6 months of the original exam date. After this timeframe, students will be required to retake the full course. Retakes must be administered by the original instructor, who is responsible for monitoring attempts and maintaining communication with students.”

    We (The Training Center) have found that less than 1% of students require more than 3 retakes.

  • We offer the exam each day we offer a live course as well as multiple times during the month. Proctoring sessions are also available on weekends.

  • Each student has access to the material for 6 months.

  • Students can sign up for the exam during any live class. Other avenues include scheduling their exam with the instructor utilizing the MyTraining portal or text message communication.

    A student may take their exam once the course requirements have been met.

    Fusion Course: Pre-coursework and satisfactory attendance

    Recertification Course: Satisfactory attendance

  • The Pool Operator Primer is pre-coursework that is not required for recertification students. This is only a requirement for students who register for the initial CPO course and choose the Fusion option.

  • The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, requiring at least 37 correct answers to pass. The time limit is 3 hours, with extensions available for ADA accommodations if needed.

  • You will receive your certification digitally through the PHTA the same day you pass your exam!
