Is a CPO Certification Required in CA?
CPO Certification is not required statewide in California, and there is currently no state mandate for pool operators to hold a CPO credential. However, many property managers, hospitality operators, and local health departments recommend CPO certification to ensure safe, compliant pool operations. While individual counties and cities may have their own standards or preferences, virtual CPO training and testing is accepted statewide, making it easy and accessible for professionals to earn their CPO Certification in California.
